Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Elliott and Chris Avirett.
The Beginning
Both Charles and Chris graduated from the Lee College A/C and Refrigeration program. Chris worked for several HVAC companies doing both residential and commercial service work for several years, before starting his first HVAC service company. In 2009 Charles came to work for Chris and the two became good friends. Shortly thereafter Chris sold the company and pursued a career with the company he sold to.
After working for a few companies Charles was disappointed in the way the various companies treated their customers and their employees. Charles started Air Tech in 2012 with a dream of providing an unparalleled level of customer service and a great working environment for employees.
Present-Day
In 2015, long-time friends, became business partners, when Charles asked Chris to be a part of what he had built. In the past two years, Air Tech of Humble has grown to be one of the highest-rated HVAC companies in Houston. The reason for this is simple, a commitment to excellence! This commitment to excellence is a culture that has been embraced by every employee. Every installation performed by Air Tech is backed by an unconditional 100% satisfaction guarantee for an entire year.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“The greatest struggle is finding employees who meet our standards. We started a Plumbing and Electrical division in October of 15 but had to close both because the Master Electrician and Plumber did not live up to our standards”
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Air Tech of Humble – what should we know?
In the beginning, Charles started running service calls out of his 1999 model Camaro. From this humble beginning, Air Tech now services over 3,300 customers with over 2 million in annual sales.
“We specialize in ultra-high efficiency Air Conditioning systems and Zone Control Systems. Having designed and installed jobs for 10,000 square foot homes with 4 systems and 12 thermostats controlled via smartphone apps.
Zone Systems give homeowners the ability to more precisely control the temperature in different areas of their home while maximizing their energy savings by not over conditioning unoccupied areas.”
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
“Honesty.”
We operate and train our personnel using the Grandma principle; “If you wouldn’t recommend something to your Grandma, do not recommend it to our customer”.
Customers can understand an oversight or even a mistake, but a lie is unacceptable.
